Description
Position Summary
The Senior Captain is responsible for serving as Pilot in Command and maintaining the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of company aircraft. This position oversees all phases of flight operations, including domestic and international missions, while ensuring adherence to FAA regulations, foreign regulatory requirements, company policies, and aviation best practices. The Senior Captain provides leadership to flight crews, supports aviation department initiatives, and maintains the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and customer service.
Responsibilities
• Serve as Pilot in Command and maintain final authority for aircraft operations
• Ensure aircraft airworthiness and the safety of passengers and crew
• Plan and execute domestic and international flight operations
• Maintain compliance with FAA regulations, foreign regulatory requirements, and company policies
• Obtain and maintain required aircraft type ratings and qualifications
• Assist in developing and maintaining aviation department policies and procedures
• Maintain expert knowledge of aircraft systems and operational procedures
• Make operational decisions regarding delays, cancellations, route changes, and diversions
• Communicate effectively with flight crewmembers to support safe decision-making
• Maintain pilot proficiency through recurrent training and continuing education
• Maintain knowledge of aircraft emergency, survival, and medical equipment
• Stay informed on aviation industry developments and operational changes
• Serve in an advisory role to aviation department leadership regarding flight operations
• Monitor crew performance and delegate duties as necessary
• Maintain professional relationships with passengers, executives, and customers
• Ensure security and protection of aircraft while away from home base
• Maintain required flight manuals, charts, logs, and operational documentation
• Complete post-flight activities, including aircraft storage, cleaning, and restocking
• Mentor and support less experienced crewmembers
• Complete assigned collateral duties
Requirements
• FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate – Airplane Multi-Engine Land
• Valid FAA Medical Certificate
• Previous corporate aviation flight department experience
• Extensive international flight operations experience
• Ability to obtain required aircraft type ratings
• Strong leadership, communication, and aeronautical decision-making skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Aviation-related education or training
• Type rating and Pilot in Command experience in company-operated aircraft
• Flight instruction or teaching experience
