Description

Position Summary
The Sheriff Aircraft Pilot supports the Kern County Sheriff’s Office aviation unit by conducting fixed-wing operations in support of law enforcement and public safety missions. Pilots are responsible for operating fixed-wing aircraft while maintaining the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and regulatory compliance.


Responsibilities
• Conduct law enforcement aviation operations
• Support patrol and surveillance missions
• Operate aircraft safely and in compliance with applicable regulations
• Maintain required certifications and qualifications
• Support Sheriff’s Office aviation operations as assigned


Requirements
• High School Diploma, GED, or Equivalent
• Valid FAA Second Class Medical Certificate
• Valid California Driver’s License
• FAA Commercial or Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with Airplane Multi-Engine Land (AMEL) Rating
• Airplane Instrument Rating
• Minimum 1,500 Hours PIC Airplane Time
• Minimum 200 Hours PIC Category and Class (ASEL or AMEL)
• Minimum 100 Hours PIC Night Flight Time
• Minimum 75 Hours PIC Instrument Flight Time (Actual or Simulated)


Preferred Qualifications
• Certified Flight Instructor (CFI)
• Certified Flight Instructor Instrument (CFII)
• Multi-Engine Instructor (MEI)
