Chief Pilot
Description
Position Summary
The Chief Pilot is responsible for overseeing flight operations, pilot management, regulatory compliance, and operational standards for the company’s flight department. Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Chief Pilot ensures safe and efficient flight operations while supervising flight crew personnel, maintaining FAA compliance, and supporting company aviation objectives.
Schedule
• Monday – Friday
• 0800 – 1700
• Flexibility required to support flight proficiency, currency, training, and operational needs
Responsibilities
• Verify flight operations are conducted in accordance with applicable FARs and company policies
• Supervise and manage Lead Pilots and flight crew members
• Review flight crew assignments
• Perform flight crew duties as required to maintain proficiency and currency
• Administer Pilot Records Database (PRD) requirements and reporting
• Interview, hire, and terminate flight crew personnel in coordination with the Director of Operations and Human Resources
• Coordinate new-hire pilot indoctrination training and background checks
• Ensure required manuals and authorizations are available onboard company aircraft
• Manage pilot and flight operations subscriptions and databases
• Designate check airmen, check pilots, and flight instructors
• Ensure pilots maintain qualifications, route currency, and proficiency requirements
• Disseminate operational information, NOTAMs, NAVAID updates, and company policies to flight crews
• Review crew duty and flight logs for compliance
• Submit required reports to the FAA when requested
• Investigate and report aircraft accidents, incidents, record discrepancies, and flight violations
• Coordinate with the Director of Maintenance and Director of Operations regarding aircraft maintenance impacts on operations
• Maintain liaison with FAA personnel on operational matters
• Participate in Manager on Duty (MOD) rotation
• Participate in Standards Committee and Safety Committee meetings
• Serve as Alternate AOSC for the company’s Twelve Five Standard Security Program
Requirements
• FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate
• Current FAA Medical Certificate as required for flight operations
• Must meet the requirements of 14 CFR Parts 119.7(c), 135.95, 135.247, 135.293, 135.297, and 135.299
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
• Ability to sit for extended periods during flight and office duties
• Ability to work in varying weather conditions
