Chief Pilot
Description
Position Summary
The Chief Pilot is responsible and accountable for all pilots operating aircraft registered and operated under Federal Aviation Regulations within the United States. This position oversees flight operations, operational control, safety management, regulatory compliance, crew qualifications, and flight department personnel while supporting executive transportation operations throughout North America.
Responsibilities
• Control operations and operational standards of all U.S.-operated aircraft.
• Coordinate with operations management, maintenance, and scheduling personnel regarding operational control.
• Actively support the Safety Management System (SMS).
• Identify and address safety risk management deficiencies.
• Ensure operational procedures incorporate approved risk mitigation strategies.
• Liaise with U.S. regulatory authorities regarding flight operations matters.
• Coordinate with external agencies affecting aircraft operations.
• Ensure compliance with FAA regulations, international regulations, company policies, and safety standards.
• Ensure crew scheduling complies with flight and duty time limitations.
• Keep flight crews informed of regulatory and operational changes.
• Receive and distribute aeronautical safety information.
• Ensure flight crew qualifications remain current.
• Maintain current operations manuals and libraries.
• Oversee the welfare and performance of flight operations personnel.
• Support executive transportation and emergency response operations.
Requirements
• FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate.
• FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
• Minimum 15 years of professional aviation experience.
• Minimum 5 years of aviation management experience.
• Minimum 7,000 hours total flight time.
• Minimum 4,000 hours Pilot-in-Command time.
• Minimum 2,000 hours jet experience.
• Minimum 100 hours multi-crew cockpit experience.
• Corporate Flight Department experience.
• Ability to travel extensively, often with short notice.
• Ability to travel internationally and cross international borders.
• No incidents or accidents under FAA regulations.
• No convictions preventing issuance of a driver’s license or ATP certificate.
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation Management, Business Administration, or related field.
• Super mid-size or large cabin jet experience.
• International flight operations experience.
• Experience operating the Cessna Citation Sovereign.
• Previous executive aviation leadership experience.
