Description

Position Summary
The First Officer plays a key role in delivering safe, efficient, and exceptional air travel for an airline (705) operation across an extensive route network. Operating as part of the flight crew, the First Officer contributes to the safe and timely operation of each flight while delivering a high-quality guest experience, demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to teamwork in every aspect of the role.


Responsibilities
• Support the safe and on-time operation of every flight
• Provide a high-quality experience for guests
• Carry out the role with professionalism, integrity, and a team-first approach


Requirements
• Hold a valid Transport Canada Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL)
• At least 2000 hours total flight time
• At least 500 hours fixed-wing multi-engine time
• Hold a valid Transport Canada Group 1 Instrument Rating and Class 1 Medical Certificate
• Canadian citizen or permanent resident
• Able to travel without restriction to all WestJet destinations (the candidate is solely responsible for any required visas or travel documents)
• Clear criminal record and background check
• Proficient in spoken and written English
• Willing to pass a pre-employment alcohol and drug screening test as a condition of employment
• Able to obtain a Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC) before starting Initial Ground School


Preferred Qualifications
• Multi-crew experience
• More than 3,000 hours total flight time
• Jet or turbo-prop experience in a 705 operation
• Prior experience with the WestJet Group
• Graduate of one of WestJet’s partnership schools
• Post-secondary education in aviation or a related field
