Captain Helicopter Pilot
Description
Position Summary
The Captain is responsible for conducting safe and efficient Helicopter Air Ambulance (HAA) operations while transporting critically ill and injured patients in accordance with CAMTS guidelines, company procedures, and applicable aviation regulations. This position operates the Airbus EC135 in a 24-hour emergency medical environment, supporting exceptional patient care while maintaining the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and operational excellence.
Schedule
• Full-Time
• 7 & 7 rotation
• 24-hour operations (day/night rotation)
• Off-duty housing provided
Responsibilities
• Serve as Pilot in Command during Helicopter Air Ambulance missions.
• Conduct HAA operations in accordance with CAMTS guidelines and company procedures.
• Perform line pilot duties in accordance with the General Operations Manual (GOM).
• Ensure safe aircraft operation during day, night, IFR, and NVG missions.
• Assist with loading and unloading patients and medical equipment.
• Participate in community outreach activities.
• Support the company’s Safety Management System (SMS) and Destination Zero safety initiatives.
• Deliver safe, courteous, and reliable service to patients, medical crews, and customers.
• Maintain compliance with all company policies and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
• FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate – Rotorcraft Helicopter.
• Instrument Helicopter Rating.
• FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
• Minimum 2,000 hours total flight time.
• Minimum 1,500 hours helicopter flight time.
• Minimum 1,000 hours Pilot in Command (PIC) helicopter time.
• Minimum 500 hours turbine helicopter time.
• Minimum 100 hours unaided night, or 50 hours unaided night plus 100 hours Night Vision Goggle (NVG) time.
• Minimum 75 hours actual or simulated instrument flight time.
• Ability to meet CAMTS pilot qualification requirements.
• Ability to maintain company weight restriction of 235 pounds or less.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to successfully complete pre-employment physical, functional capacity evaluation, drug screening, and background check.
• Acceptance by company management and customer.
Preferred Qualifications
• Airbus EC135 experience.
• Previous Helicopter Air Ambulance (HAA) experience.
• SPIFR and NVG operational experience.
