Description
Position Summary
The Base Chief Pilot provides leadership, supervision, and operational oversight for pilots assigned to the base. This flying leadership role supports pilot development, training, standardization, scheduling, and compliance while serving as the primary liaison between the base and company leadership to maintain the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
• Report directly to the Chief Pilot
• Maintain close coordination with the Chief Pilot and Director of Operations regarding flight department activities
• Maintain proficiency as a Pilot-in-Command on the CJ4
• Participate in pilot interviews, hiring, onboarding, and separation processes
• Supervise local flight crew personnel
• Mentor newly hired pilots
• Coordinate flight crew training with the Training Manager
• Conduct or supervise flight crew training activities
• Conduct 135.293(a) and 135.299 checking events
• Conduct pilot performance evaluations
• Manage local pilot schedules
• Coordinate commuter pilot schedules
• Address pilot performance, interpersonal, and disciplinary matters
• Submit required reports regarding flight crew personnel
• Facilitate communication between the base and company leadership
• Ensure aircraft are properly equipped for assigned operations
• Participate in scheduled management meetings
• Assist with development of operational policies and procedures
• Assist with manual, SOP, and checklist revisions
• Maintain crew flight and duty records
• Ensure flight crew certification and regulatory compliance
• Supervise distribution of operational notices, policy updates, chart revisions, and related information
• Represent the company with local FBOs and service providers
• Support safety, security, and drug testing initiatives
• Travel as required to support company operations and training activities
Requirements
• ATP Certificate with Airplane Multi-Engine Land Privileges
• Current First Class Medical Certificate
• Minimum 3,500 Hours Total Flight Time
• Minimum 1,500 Hours Multi-Engine Time
• Minimum 500 Hours Turbofan Time
• Minimum 2 Years Part 135 or Part 121 Experience
• Minimum 1 Year PIC Experience in Turbojet Operations
• FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit
• Valid Driver’s License
• Must reside within one hour of Fort Worth, Texas
Preferred Qualifications
• One Year PIC Experience in Part 135 or Part 121 Operations
• 4,000 Hours Total Flight Time
• CE-525 Type Rating
• 100 Hours CE-525C Time
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Aviation Management Experience
• International Operating Experience
