Description
Position Summary
The Aviation Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality classroom instruction while supporting student learning and academic success within the aviation program. This position provides engaging instruction in aviation-related subjects, maintains accurate academic records, utilizes flight simulation technology, and promotes a safe, professional, and inclusive learning environment.
Schedule
• Part-Time (Adjunct)
• Flexible teaching schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed
Responsibilities
• Deliver classroom instruction in assigned aviation courses
• Maintain accurate attendance, grading, and student academic records
• Administer course assessments, surveys, and required testing
• Communicate with students regarding attendance, academic progress, and course expectations
• Prepare and maintain organized course syllabi and instructional materials
• Conduct classes according to the published schedule and university policies
• Provide academic guidance and tutoring to students as needed
• Participate in weekly meetings with academic leadership
• Support curriculum development, student assessment, and continuous program improvement
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional classroom environment
• Participate in annual professional development activities
• Ensure compliance with university policies and applicable federal and state regulations
Requirements
• Minimum of two years of recent flight instruction or professional aviation experience
• Master’s degree in Aviation, Aeronautics, or a related field
• Strong knowledge of aviation theory, FAA regulations, and aviation safety practices
• Previous teaching or training experience, preferably in a collegiate or technical education environment
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to instruct in a classroom environment and utilize flight simulation equipment
• Proficiency with aviation technology, simulation systems, and learning management systems (LMS)
• Commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
Preferred Qualifications
• FAA Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) Certificate or equivalent certification
