Position Summary

Duke Energy Utility Aviation is seeking experienced Utility Pilots and Construction Pilots to support utility helicopter operations including power line patrol, gas line patrol, storm response, transport flights, external load operations, and hoist operations while ensuring safe and compliant operations under FAA and company procedures.

Schedule

Frequent travel with extended periods away from home, including weekends, holidays, standby duty, and outage response operations.


Responsibilities

• Conduct scheduled and non-scheduled power and gas line patrol flights
• Perform helicopter external load and long-line operations
• Conduct hoist operations for personnel and equipment
• Support storm response and outage operations
• Operate aircraft in compliance with FAA Part 133 regulations and company procedures
• Manage crew, passenger, and operational safety
• Support fueling, cleaning, and servicing of aircraft as required
• Provide leadership and support for aviation crew members


Requirements
Utility Pilot

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum 5 years related pilot experience
• Commercial Pilot License with Instrument Helicopter Rating
• FAA First Class Medical Certificate

Construction Pilot

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum 12 years related pilot experience


Preferred Qualifications
Utility Pilot

• 7 years pilot experience
• 2,000 hours PIC Rotorcraft-Helicopter
• Commercial Rotorcraft-Helicopter Certificate
• Detailed knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations

Construction Pilot

• ATP Helicopter Rating
• 5,000 hours PIC Rotorcraft-Helicopter
• Vertical Reference / Precision Long Line experience
• Hoist operation experience
• H145 or twin-engine helicopter experience
• Human External Cargo (HEC) experience
• Part 133 Endorsement
• Helicopter construction experience near power lines
• FAA Proficiency Check
• Airframe and Powerplant License preferred
