About the Company

The North Dakota Game and Fish Department supports wildlife conservation, law enforcement, public education, and outdoor recreation across the state through aviation, enforcement, and natural resource management operations.


Position Summary

The North Dakota Game and Fish Department is seeking a Game Warden Pilot to operate a Cessna 182 equipped with Garmin G1000 avionics while supporting wildlife, fisheries, and law enforcement flight operations throughout North Dakota.

Schedule
Full-time position with varied day, night, weekend, and enforcement schedules.


Responsibilities

• Operate Cessna 182 aircraft for enforcement and wildlife missions
• Conduct day and night flight operations
• Maintain aircraft readiness and coordinate maintenance
• Support law enforcement and administrative aviation operations
• Maintain flight proficiency and operational records
• Assist with public relations, education, and safety programs
• Maintain auxiliary enforcement equipment used during flight missions
• Coordinate aviation support requests with supervisors and other agencies


Requirements

• CPL required
• Single Engine Land required
• Instrument rating required
• FAA Class II Medical
• 500 total time
• Valid driver’s license
• Must be 21 years of age or older
• Eligible to become a licensed North Dakota Peace Officer
• Ability to complete peace officer training and probationary field training
• Ability to work alone in adverse weather and environmental conditions
• Ability to perform physically demanding duties


Preferred Qualifications

• Cessna 182 experience
• Garmin G1000 experience
• Night flight experience
• Boat operations experience
• Strong computer skills

• $5,942 – $7,541 per month hiring range
• $5,942 – $9,141 per month full range

Testing & Interview Process

Applicants are required to complete the Game Warden Pilot examination process.

Testing dates and locations:

• June 2, 2026 – Job Service, Minot, ND
• June 3, 2026 – West Fargo Police Department, West Fargo, ND
• June 4, 2026 – ND Game and Fish Department, Dickinson, ND
• June 5, 2026 – ND Game and Fish Department, Bismarck, ND
