    Captain Helicopter Pilot

Description

Position Summary

The Rotary Wing Pilot supports the Alaska State Troopers Aircraft Section by conducting helicopter operations in support of law enforcement, search and rescue, public safety, and other state missions throughout Alaska. This position may also provide flight instruction, recurrent training, aircraft repositioning, and aviation program leadership support.


Schedule

• May work an 8 Days On / 6 Days Off schedule


Responsibilities

• Conduct rotary-wing flight operations in support of law enforcement missions
• Support search and rescue operations
• Provide aircraft support throughout Alaska
• Coordinate with pilots, aviation staff, and law enforcement personnel
• Ensure flights are conducted in accordance with FAA regulations and department policy
• Assist with aviation program operations and staffing coordination
• Perform post-maintenance flight checks
• Coordinate maintenance findings with maintenance personnel
• Reposition aircraft between operational and maintenance locations
• Provide recurrent training to department pilots
• Conduct flight instruction as assigned
• Support aviation program goals and operational readiness


Requirements

• FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate or ATP
• Instrument Rating
• Current FAA Medical Certificate
• Minimum 1,500 Flight Hours
• Minimum 500 Hours PIC Rotary-Wing Time
• Minimum 500 Hours Alaska Rotary-Wing Time (or equivalent operational experience)
• Minimum 100 Hours Alaska Time within the previous 12 months (or equivalent)
• Ability to successfully complete a flight check
• Ability to pass a fingerprint-based background investigation
• Ability to travel throughout Alaska
