My name is Ethan Brown, I am a 20 year old commercial pilot and CFI. Ever since I was young I wanted to be a pilot and I started my training at 15, after much deliberation and hard work I became a private pilot in 2023 at the age of 18 and then continued working towards the rest of my ratings and certifications eventually becoming a CFI and CFI-I in 2025. I am currently working towards my bachelors degree in aviation science while time building and looking for flying opportunities. In addition to aviation I have also been practicing the discipline of Tae Kwon Do for over 7 year and in 2025 I stepped in to volunteer teaching alongside my master, this experience has taught me how different people learn and grow and has helped me apply various techniques towards my teaching and leadership abilities as a flight instructor.

Highlights

Remaining calm in tense situations
June 23, 2023 On June 23 of 2025 I went up in a Citabria for my spin endorsement, the spin training and recovery went off with any issue and the instructor was confident in my ability and confirmed that I would get my enforcement. The instructor then asked me if I would be interested in watching her demonstrate a loop as the Citabria is an aerobatic aircraft, I enthusiastically agreed. as the instructor went to pull up to enter the loop all of a sudden the aircraft plexiglass roof and back windows shattered out which was unexpected of both of us. We remained calm, leveled the nose and confirmed that the aircraft was still flyable before making a precautionary landing back at our departure airport. Upon landing and examining the extent of the damage, we realize that not only had the windows and roof been broken, but that the aircraft’s canvas skin had been cut by one of the glass pieces damaging the tail. This incident helped prepare me for what can happen if something goes wrong and helped me be prepared for the future.
