Position Summary
The Float Rotor Wing Pilot (IFR) is responsible for safely operating aircraft to transport critically ill or injured patients. This role supports air medical operations by covering open shifts across multiple bases while maintaining the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and patient care.
Responsibilities
• Serve as Pilot in Command for rotor wing air medical operations
• Safely transport patients and medical crews in dynamic environments
• Perform preflight and post-flight inspections and flight planning
• Analyze weather and operational conditions for safe execution
• Maintain logs, records, and required documentation
• Assist with loading passengers, crew, and equipment
• Operate within a variable schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
• Cover open shifts across multiple bases as part of a float pilot schedule (minimum 7 shifts per pay period)
Requirements
• FAA Commercial Helicopter Certificate with Instrument Rating
• FAA Second Class Medical
• 2,000 total flight hours
• 1,500 PIC hours
• 1,000 rotor wing turbine hours
• 75 total instrument hours (50 in aircraft)
• 100 hours unaided night
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within service area
Preferred Qualifications
• Air medical transport experience
• NVG experience
• Mountain flying experience
• Bachelor’s degree
• 100 instrument hours
