Contract Instructor Pilot | Lockheed AC-130J

Position Summary

The AC-130J Contract Instructor Pilot supports Instruction operations by providing academic and simulator training to initial qualification, mission qualification, requalification, instructor upgrade, and key staff students. Training covers aircraft systems, instrument flight, emergency procedures, and tactical mission operations.

Schedule

• Full-time, 40 hours per week.
• Some overtime may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide AC-130J academic and simulator instruction.
• Deliver emergency procedures, aircraft systems, instrument flight, and tactical operations training.
• Provide refresher training to qualified AC-130J aircrew members.
• Support training for initial qualification, mission qualification, requalification, and instructor upgrades.
• Assist with the Instructional Systems Design process and development of AC-130J courseware.
• Ensure training courseware is correctly applied.
• Obtain Community College of the Air Force instructor certification after selection.
• Perform additional training-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college.
• Current AC-130J Pilot experience within the previous two years, or within the previous eight years when accompanied by at least eight years of military operational flying experience and a minimum of two years or 200 hours as an in-flight instructor in the AC-130J/H/U/W.
• Must possess or be able to obtain at least an active Secret security clearance.
• U.S. citizenship required for access to classified information and COMSEC material.
• Ability to successfully complete a government security investigation.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and adapt to a dynamic training environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous AC-130 experience for candidates requiring a waiver from the stated currency requirements.
• Previous experience as an AC-130J Contract Instructor.
